History of photography
The first or ancestor of photography: the camera obscura.
The mechanism of the camera obscura was known since ancient times, it was mentioned by Aristotle and used in the following centuries for astronomical observations. In the Renaissance the camera obscura was used by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Canaletto to help themselves with drawing from life.
Subsequently, further studies on the darkroom led to the development of photography, that is, fixing the image reproduced by the darkroom onto a treated plate.
The first experiments were carried out at the beginning of the 19th century, in particular Joseph Niépce took the first photograph in 1826.
Other scholars include Fox Talbot and Daguerre, who in 1839 invented the Daguerreotype.
During the 20th century, camera technology developed enough to allow the production of portable cameras, which ushered in a new era for photography as they were much more accessible.
During this period the concept of photography goes from being considered a simple documentation to a true artistic expression.
Among the greatest photographers of the 20th century we find Ansel Adams, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray, Henri Cartier Bresson, Cindy Sherman, Letizia Battaglia.
The first digital technologies began to be developed in 1975 by Kodak, which filed the patent in 1978. The first digital camera was introduced on the market in 1981, while the first digital SLR arrived in 1991.
Learn to take photography
Anyone interested in the profession of photographer is certainly interested in knowing what courses of study are required to become a photographer, as well as the opportunities and working conditions involved.
First of all, there are many ways to learn photography: some choose to start as self-taught, but since photography is a fairly complex science, many prefer to attend a school.
There are many schools and universities that offer degrees and diplomas in photography: it is often worth considering who the teachers are at these schools, both those who deal with a more technical side and those who deal with the artistic side, who are often successful exponents of this field.
There are also photography courses that cover the basics needed to learn the technique needed to use a camera up to more advanced courses that also follow the path of artistic expression that a photographer can achieve.
Once you have achieved the role of photographer, there are many fields to enter: there is fashion photography, artistic photography, photo reportage, photography for contemporary art, etc…
You definitely need to understand which is your favorite field to enter, as the experiences in the field change drastically depending on the field.
For example, the working day of a photojournalist is certainly diametrically different from that of a fashion photographer.
Furthermore, each of these fields implies different experiences and salaries, also in relation to one’s level of experience and/or fame.

Are you interested in getting started?
Surely the first step is to own a camera: you can choose to focus on digital or analog, and even there you can differentiate between different types of cameras with different price ranges, it depends on your objectives.
The second step is often to look for a basic photography course, which teaches the fundamental techniques of using the camera, the study of light and its applications to photography, and then move on to artistic research through the camera.
Art Studio Finestreria offers two photography courses in collaboration with artist William Aparicio: Basic Photography and Art and Photography.
The first, as the name suggests, focuses on the technique needed to start using a camera correctly, while the second is suitable for those who want to develop their artistic expression through photography.
