FOGLIO SALA
THE CONTEMPLATION OF THE IMMATERIAL IN A SUNNY AFTERNOON IN MILAN
Art Gallery Finestreria ORIZZONTI, Pietro Capogrosso’s exhibition, Trani 1967. His silent, meditative, harmonious painting evokes the light of the morning. The memories of his sunny childhood have been enclosed in his landscapes of affection for years, these then have become gradually rarefied, distilled, abstracted from the troubles of the world. His gaze is struck by a direct light, which produces a visibility at the limit, a suspension between figuration and abstraction. Its elegant, dusty, pale colors, its pastel shades, sugar paper, pale pink, yellow of Naples, remind Morandi, the diaphanous painting of the Belgian Luc Tuymans. In his salty painting the landscape slowly evaporates. The horizon line seems to extend into an infinite padded made of dazzling light.
The inseparability between life and death, memory and oblivion.
What remains is the beauty of a light in the eyes.
