Do you want to leave some time to learn oil painting on canvas by combining your passion for plants? We can do it together!
During the course you will be guided in making your own pictorial canvas depicting a plant subject meaningful to you!
Everyone is asked to choose and bring a plant of their choice, we suggest physically bringing it to conduct painting from life, or alternatively some plants will be available in the gallery.
Since ancient Greece, herbaria were made to catalogue and understand different plant species.
Starting with early empirical and then scientific analysis, the concept of the herbarium has increasingly taken on an artistic and philosophical role.
Plant care is for many people also a time of caring for their emotional state, so the course aims to use an intimate part of one’s daily life to combine it with the art of painting and make a herbarium page that is meaningful to the person making it.

How does the course work?
– An introductory theoretical part on the history of herbaria and some visual examples.
– Accompaniment of the eye to train it to observe the subject and understand how to begin painting.
– Introduction of the painting technique of oil colors to begin using them freely.
– Development of each participant’s canvas/herbarium.
You can bring your own paints and brushes, otherwise you will find all the necessary materials in the gallery at your disposal.

Who organizes the course?
Alessandra La Marca is one of the young artists who is part of the stable of Art Gallery Finestreria. We organized a personal exhibition in 2023 dedicated to plants and participated in the Tuttigatti group exhibition in 2024 with the representation of catnip. A girl to trust and for this reason she was chosen to organize our painting courses.
