The project is a long-term photographic taxonomy created using a scanner, installed by Aparicio in public spaces. There, he invited passers-by to have the area of their chest scanned — the area of the heart, where the body’s time pulsates.
Clothing, an essential part of identity construction, becomes a key visual element. Typological comparisons generate narratives through the force of resemblance and the expressive value of difference, highlighting variables such as profession, social role, or gender, and bringing out the uniqueness of each individual.
At the centre of the body, the navel symbolically recalls the origin of life. The archive includes 40 navels, but the project gradually expanded to involve the entire body. Aparicio’s investigation thus becomes both an intimate and collective mapping, a visual atlas of our time.

The project is a long-term photographic taxonomy done with a scanner, equipment installed in public spaces in which Aparicio invited some passersby to have their chest area, that of the beating heart, where the body’s time is marked. Clothing is a significant element in the construction of identity. Typological comparisons establish narratives from the strength of similarity reinforced by the particularities of differences. Variables such as profession, trade or gender were highlighted, focusing on the uniqueness of the individual.
The belly button is located in the center of the body and is reminiscent of the gestation process of life. Forty navels are part of the archive, but the research continues. In fact, the artist’s body analysis approached the scanning of the whole body.
