Have you ever tried drawing a face? Not just any face, but one that tells a story, an emotion, a thought?
In this workshop, we will learn to closely observe gazes, funny noses, smiling or mysterious mouths… and transform them into portraits!
We’ll use a variety of materials—pens, pencils, markers, and more.

What We’ll Do

An afternoon to explore drawing in a free and creative way, using a personal sketchbook (which you’ll take home!) filled with experiments, sketches, attempts, and discoveries.
Through observation games and simple exercises, we’ll learn to truly “see” and to draw what we observe… but also what we feel!

Two Special Moments:

1. Let’s observe and draw from life: using pencils and pens, we’ll sketch objects and faces, discovering how a portrait is built.

2. Let’s experiment and play: we’ll use free and creative lines to express through images what is often left unsaid in words.

Materials

All materials will be provided at the gallery:

• A personal drawing sketchbook

• Pencils, crayons, pens, charcoal

• If you wish, you can bring your favorite materials (markers, colored pencils, chalks…)

Note: All materials must be “dry” – no water or solvents allowed!

Mauro Valsecchi, visual artist and passionate lover of sketchbooks filled with drawings, words, and ideas.
For him, the sketchbook is a magical space where imagination is born.
He will be the one guiding us on this journey into the world of portraiture!

The cost includes:

• The workshop

• All materials (sketchbook, pencils, pens, markers)

Important Detail

The workshop takes place inside an art gallery, surrounded by delicate paintings and artworks.
For this reason, we ask children to follow just one simple rule:
be very careful and do not touch the artworks on display.

In return, we promise two hours of fun, imagination, and blue magic!
